The title refers to the fact that Murray presents the Anabaptist tradition in its bare essentials and without covering up any its shortcomings. He does this masterfully. I recently finished a thought-provoking book called The Naked Anabaptist by Stuart Murray.

I loved the depth of history and unique perspective the book provides. Some of the layout of the chapters seemed odd to me (like the history of the movement in the second to last chapter and the last chapter focused on issues with Anabaptism). No, it’s not what you might be thinking—nobody is nude.

At least, not literally, although more than people have joined the Naked Anabaptist group on the Facebook social media site to metaphorically explore what it means to strip down to the bare essentials of the Anabaptist faith.

The new group was formed by Winnipeg Mennonite pastor and blogger. Since the late s, Murray and participants in the network have written several books on themes related to Anabaptist hermeneutics and post-Christendom, church planting, evangelism, discipleship, worship, and mission.
